Monday was rough.
Nathan had two quizzes, I had a long day at work, and by the time we got through the traffic and back home we needed a game plan.
“How can we make Monday better?” I asked Nathan.
Without missing a beat, he answered: “Steak.”
Grandpa Lundy had given Nathan some tenderloin fillets awhile ago, and we had them ready to go for such an occasion as this. While Nathan worked on getting the steaks ready, I prepped the sides: sweet potato and salad for him, steamed veggies and corn on the cob for me.
Those plates were cleared in no time! It only took a few bites of steak before both of us felt the Monday blues drifting away, and by the last bite, we were both in such better moods. It was wonderful, and set the tone for a much better Monday evening than the rest of the day had been.
We still have a couple of the fillets left, and I have a feeling that we’ll be putting those to good use when another long day sneaks up on us! They’re our secret weapon for combating med school stress and workday woes 🙂
Thanks so much to Grandpa Lundy for the delicious dinner! We both agreed that Monday turned from a 2 to a 10 thanks to you.
