One perk of med school? Nathan still gets breaks from class throughout the year! The first one is Fall Break, which happened to be the same weekend as Columbus Day. My work is on a bank holiday schedule, so I had Monday off. We took advantage of our long weekend with a trip home to visit my family for the first time in a few months – it was much needed πŸ™‚

Saturday started off with temperatures that felt more like winter break than fall break, but luckily the rest of the weekend wasn’t as chilly once we headed south.

I can’t believe she’s known me since I was 10 years old and now I get to visit with her as a married working woman. Time flies!

After dinner, we walked down to see my brother’s band play on the riverfront at Harvest Homecoming. It was a great show and a crisp fall night out. I was glad I got the chance to show Nate the spectacle of Harvest Homecoming in the process!

The rest of the visit was spent enjoying time at home with family. My dad and I got to jog together on Sunday morning and my mom and I even snuck in a shopping trip while the guys watched football games. The best shopping took place in my mom’s closet – check out this adorable coat from Ann Taylor that she gave me!

Decked out for my first day back at work for the week! Excuse the messy kitchen :)

There is nothing like time with the people you love and a little home cooking to make for a wonderful weekend, and I’m so glad we were able to visit!

Now we’re back and ready to tackle the rest of fall and this semester…until the next break, that is πŸ™‚
