‘Twas the weekend before test block
And all over the place
Flashcards were piling
And coffee was ace.
That photo sums up Nathan’s weekend pretty well. His pharm exam is this Wednesday, and as my dad would say, he’s had those “dang flashcards” in his hands for 90% of the weekend to study.
Buuut….for the other 10% of the time…he was busy taking me out on a date!
Ever since I knew that we would be living in Indy, I’ve told Nathan that we have to find a good Thai restaurant here. I had never had Thai until I went to IU, and as soon as I tried it, I fell in love. It’s a meal that I don’t crave often, but when I do crave it – I gotta have it!
Unbeknownst to me, Nathan had scouted out the local Thai places and planned a special dinner date for us Saturday night! All he told me was that we’d be going out and I didn’t have to cook that night… I was sold!
The whole drive over he kept asking if I had any ideas, but he had truly stumped me. I was just happy to have some quality time together, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t completely light up when I saw the name of the restaurant when we pulled in: “Thai Orchid“.
My husband knows the way to my heart 🙂
We both enjoyed our meals, although Nathan’s was a bit spicier than anticipated and we ended up boxing up quite a bit of it for leftovers. I got pad woon sen (one of my go-to meals at Thai places) and he got “rama delight” – chicken, veggies and rice in peanut sauce.
Afterwards, to further quell the spiciness, we had fro yo from Orange Leaf for dessert. In other words…this was my ideal date and I loved every bit of it.
The company was, of course, the best part, and true to form he was the perfect date – just like he has been since the first time he took me out. He opened my door, spotted the bill and even got me home at a decent hour 😉
Here was our post-date rating of Thai Orchid:
Location: 4/5 stars (a 5-10 minute drive from home)
Atmosphere: 3/5 stars (casual, definitely a plus!)
Price: 3/5 stars
Service: 4/5 stars
Food: 4.5/5 stars
We will definitely be back and look forward to this becoming one of “our spots”!
Aside from a great date night, we also had a fun dinner with friends from church on Friday at their house. We even got to enjoy this gorgeous sunset on the drive over…
And last but definitely not least (in my opinion, that is), I’ve been loving our new fall-themed placemats! I got them on sale at Kroger the day after Halloween. It’s the little things…
Oh, and that candle burning on the table? Most amazing smell ever. It’s “pumpkin soufflé” from Boulangerie…absolutely incredible. It makes the whole house smell like autumn! I’m going to have to ration how often I burn it if I want it to last much longer at this rate. It just makes things feel so much cozier!
That’s our weekend in a nutshell. If you see a zombie walking around Indy any time in the next 10 days, that’s my husband – please give him coffee and return him safely to the library. 😉
