We began the second day much like the first, enjoying breakfast on the deck. We spotted another bear as we ate! Soon after, we set out on a new trail, Rainbow Falls. This one had a totally different feel from the first – lots of rocks and winding tunnels. It was breathtaking the whole way, and it ended at a cool cascade where we took a break for a snack and drink.
After we got home, we enjoyed lunch on the deck and hung around outside for awhile. The sun stayed out the whole trip and we felt so lucky to soak it up instead of being stuck inside at work/school!
After getting cleaned up, we went into town to check out Smoky Mountain Brewery, another place that was recommended to us. Nathan tried the Black Bear Ale and loved it! It was a really cool place to hang out before dinner, and we definitely want to go back.
Since it was our last night, we were determined to have a good meal. We lucked out when we landed at Cherokee Grill. It was one of the best dinners I think we’ve ever had! The ambience was nice and relaxing and the service was great. We both started with bread and salads, and then Nathan ordered the catfish and I ordered the trout for our meals. They totally hit the spot and left us feeling satisfied and full!
Back at the cabin, it was starting to rain and we were both wiped out from the day. We hung out on the couch and watched Cast Away, which I’d never seen, and made room for one last piece of wedding cake before calling it a night.
It was a perfect getaway for us and we loved every minute. Our cabin was called Highland Fling and we already want to go back!
The next morning we ate one last breakfast on the deck before cleaning up, packing up and hitting the road. Our next destination was Tullahoma, TN, where we had plans to visit with a lot of my extended family. Nathan had never been to Tullahoma before, so we were really looking forward to the chance to go! Stay tuned 🙂
