We are back from a whirlwind weekend full of family, food, and fun! About a month ago we came up with the idea to take advantage of the long Labor Day weekend and visit family. I’m just so glad it worked out – it couldn’t have gone better!
Our weekend began on Friday evening in Cincinnati at Grandma and Grandpa Beachy’s house. We had dinner plans with them, but when we showed up we found out some aunts, uncles, cousins, and new babies would be joining us! We were thrilled to get to see so much family all at once. (We are lucky they all live nearby so it worked out!)
The theme for this trip was definitely us being spoiled by people making time to see us while we were in town. It made us feel so loved everywhere we went!
It was such a treat to get to see Amy and Aiden for the first time too. Our cousins, Sam and Lauren, both had babies around the same time and this was the firs time we’d gotten to see them. We loved it (and it made me even more excited for my first nephew to be born in a few days!!).
It wouldn’t be a Beachy family gathering without good food, and we had plenty of it: crockpot pulled chicken (with cream cheese and ranch seasoning – a recipe we plan on recreating this fall!), pasta salad, corn, poppyseed salad…
And of course Grandma’s famous chocolate cake for dessert 🙂
We had a few hours to visit and catch up with everyone, and it was the perfect way to kick off our weekend trip.
Next, we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Lundy’s house to sleep and have breakfast/spend the morning with them. We have stayed there for pretty much every Cincy visit we’ve ever taken, and it is always so comfortable there. We didn’t stay up too long after we got there Friday night, but we were up fairly early on Saturday to visit with them.
We sat on their dreamy back patio and soaked up the perfect morning weather. Fall is definitely in the air around here and I couldn’t be happier about it! I’ll miss my summer days, but fall is always so refreshing and rejuvenating after a sweltering summer.
Grandpa fixed us his specialty: peppered bacon, hash browns, and scrambled eggs. Once again, we were spoiled by more family joining us for breakfast: Aunt Chris, Aunt Kate, Uncle Todd, Max, Peyton, and Ethan all came by that morning. We had so much fun talking with everyone and enjoying the delicious breakfast Grandma and Grandpa put together for us!
Time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to hit the road for the next leg of our trip: down south to Tullahoma to see Oma and Pa, where the fun continued…
