It’s been a crazy week in the best way possible! The biggest news ever…my nephew was born on Friday, September 9!
Jack was born weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and 19 inches long. He’s so perfect it’s ridiculous. Basically my world stops every time I get a new photo or video of this little guy and I am counting down the days until I get to visit him in October!
Now that I’m an aunt life is better all around 🙂 I could go on and on and on…but I’ll spare you. Just know if you run into me now I’ll immediately start gushing about him and showing you a billion pictures whether or not you ask for them!
I’ve been celebrating Jack’s arrival all week, and the fun continued with a lunch date with my dad on Wednesday. He came up just to meet me for my lunch break! I felt so spoiled.
We tried a new-to-me spot, Goose the Market. Nathan had been there before and gave it rave reviews, so I knew we would enjoy it!
Goose the Market is a “full service butcher shop and specialty food + wine market” (per their website). Basically it’s a super cool local spot that makes amazing sandwiches, gelato, cookies, soups, etc. They are mostly known for their sandwiches at lunch, which is exactly what we got!
I got the Goose, which is: La Quercia prosciutto rossa, fresh mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil, and black pepper, all served on deliciously crusty/chewy bread.
And Dad got the Wilder, which is: smoked turkey, city ham, raclette cheese, fresh pear, and sage.
Both were so good! Of course we shared bites 🙂 They change up their menu daily, but I believe the Goose is always an option. Thank goodness too – I definitely want to get it again! The prosciutto was melt-in-your-mouth, and the mozzarella was the freshest I’ve ever had. I especially loved the addition of pear on Dad’s sandwich, too.
Delicioso! And even better company.
We sat outside at one of their picnic tables and watched the world go by. It was only an hour but it refreshed me for the whole week! It was a much needed break to get through what has become a stressful/busy week at work.
This sign out front was too perfect. I see why Nathan likes this place!
Goose the Market was such a cool spot for lunch and I hope I get to come back again soon. They do sandwiches right! If anything, I’ll be checking their daily menu for inspiration to jazz up our own sandwich creations at home. I just love restaurants that really invest in local farmers, brands, and companies, and Goose the Market clearly excels at that.
It was a great new spot to try with Dad and a fun midweek date! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some photos of my nephew I need to look at 😉
