We had a fun Saturday together!
First, we spent the afternoon enjoying Whitestown Brewfest. One of my coworkers entered 3 home brewed beers in the contest, so we helped him pour for a couple hours. It was a lot of fun! We also got to enjoy tasting all the other beers there. Nate loved it 🙂
Then, we had a long awaited date night! We wanted to go out and celebrate the fact that Nathan has officially (as of 9/15) applied for his residency programs. Eek! I can’t believe it’s really happening! It feels super cool to have started that process and it was definitely worth commemorating with a nice meal just the two of us. So that’s what we did! We decided to try a new place: Twenty Tap, a cool spot in Broad Ripple. I’d heard great things and was not disappointed – it was SO good! A great casual atmosphere, and we were able do sit outside on a beautiful evening. Win win!
They have great beers on tap, but we were a little tapped out at that point (see what I did there?) so we stuck with just the food.
We shared the fries to start and picked 2 of their homemade sauces to try: garlic aioli and chipotle.
Oh my gosh…we declared these the BEST FRIES EVER and would have happily made a meal out of the fries alone. We basically did, but somehow still made room when our meals arrived.
The sandwiches were killer too. I got the turkey burger with tomato jam (!), arugula, whipped goat cheese, and caramelized onion on an English muffin.
Speechless. Just so good – totally hit the spot.
Nate got the Spicy Cuban with ham, pulled pork, pepper jack, jalapeños, sriracha, and mayo.
He shared a bite with me and it was delicious too! Our plates were clean and our bellies were very full when all was said and done.
We enjoyed visiting/digesting for a bit before rolling ourselves out of there and back home. It was a fun way to spend a beautiful Saturday in September! Plus another check on our resolution of new restaurants for the year and a much needed break from the workweek grind 🙂 We love weekends!
