The first weekend in October was a long weekend for us. One of my closest childhood friends was getting married on Saturday, so I decided to take Friday off and make a long weekend of it!
Mom flew into the Indianapolis airport on her way back from a visit to Ali, Luke, and baby Jack in Houston, so we picked her up around 11 on Friday morning. It was great having her along for the ride home! We caught up on all the baby news and listened to a new podcast I’m enjoying, Happier with Gretchen Rubin.
When we got home, Nate did some studying and mom and I went to get our nails done. Then we all drove to dinner at my favorite pizza place in Louisville – Cafe Lou Lou! It was so fun to be on a double date with Mom and Dad.
We started with wedge salads.
Then shared a little of everything – mostly this BBQ chicken pizza! It’s my all time fave 🙂
All in all it was a great start to the weekend!
Saturday was the wedding day, but it was also St. James Art Show! This is the art show my mom and I grew up going to together (the one that sparked our Penrod Art Fair tradition in Indy) so I was SO glad to be back home for it this year. It was a little overcast, but that just meant there wasn’t too big of a crowd while we were there. Perfecto!
I got to talk to a local author about MFA programs and met a few artists my mom knew. I love meeting creative people who are living their passions! We also bought a few trinkets – how could we not?!
Afterward, we went to Toast for lunch. It’s one of my favorite places for a girls’ lunch, and it totally hit the spot.
We got a breakfast dish – BLT scramble with their potato hash.
And a lunch dish – spinach salad with berries, walnuts, blue cheese, bacon, and chicken.
Both totally hit the spot!
We met the boys at home – they’d spent the morning golfing – and soon enough it was time to get ready for the wedding. Photos first!
My forever wedding date 🙂
We all coordinated pretty well I thought!
The wedding was so much fun. The couple has been dating since they were 16 years old, so it was a really special ceremony. I have so many fond memories of them together, and it was really cool to see them become husband and wife!
Of course the party afterward was our favorite part! We danced, ate delicious cake, and called it a night. Made it home in time to see the end of the U of L game (and visit with Ted before he went back to Nashville!), and woke up the next morning (Sunday) in time to see the Colts kickoff in London!
We spent the morning watching the Colts game and enjoying a breakfast buffet and mimosas. Perfect way to recuperate after a night out and a great first weekend in October. I always love visiting home but I especially love it this time of year ❤
