In the thick of winter (aka right now), it takes a pretty good reason to get out of the house…and that’s why Devour Indy couldn’t come at a better time! Devour Indy is Indy’s version of Restaurant Week. This year, they expanded Devour Downtown so that restaurants all over Indianapolis give specially priced menus and deals for two weeks (Jan. 23-Feb. 5). It’s the perfect excuse for trying new places or going back to old favorites!

Last year, we tried a new spot –45 Degrees. This year, we decided to go back to one we’ve been to before – Pizzology!

We’d been to Pizzology one other time with my mom at the downtown location. This time, we wanted to check out the Carmel spot, so we headed north for a dinner date night.

I told him I would caption this “mussels for my muscle man.” He thought I was joking.

Nathan got mussels to start and I tried one! I’d never had mussels before so this was a fun new food for me. I liked it! But I liked my chopped salad more…

Romaine lettuce, roasted grape tomatoes, olives, shallots, gorgonzola, and lemon citronette

We decided to share a couple personal pizzas for our entrees.

(Across the table) White Devil: Garlic fondue, La Quercia prosciutto, fresh-shaved mushrooms, housemade mozzarella, olive oil, and sea salt

It was delicious! As always, we shared slices with each other so we got to try both 🙂 We decided the Zucca was our favorite between the two. A real treat was dipping our crust in the leftover mussels’ broth. We were both trying to figure out if that was bad manners or not but it was too yummy to care!

Overall, we loved going out for Devour Indy again this year and it was a great reason to get out of the house on a dreary cold day. Good pizza and better company can’t be beat!
