What do you do when the sun comes out and the temperatures break 50 for the first time in months? You get outside, of course! That’s exactly what we did last weekend when we found ourselves with an open Sunday afternoon and clear blue skies.
We decided to take our outdoor adventure downtown. Every day, I drive home from work down Delaware Street. I often sit at stoplights and enjoy gazing at the old historical buildings and newer apartments that run up and down that street. I’ve tried to whip out my cell phone to take a few photos before the light changes to green, but that’s never worked out very well. So, Nate and I decided to take a field trip down to Delaware to capture some photos on foot!
Walking my normal commute was SO much more fun than sitting in a car during rush hour traffic 😉 There was more time to take everything in and soak up the sunshine. We ❤ our city, and seeing it at a slower pace made my heart happy. Not to mention I got to practice photography and now have some of my favorite buildings captured on film!
I can’t wait to do some cool editing with these photos! I will be sharing them on Instagram if you want to see the finished product.
Here’s the first one I’ve edited and my favorite building in Indy (seriously):
I LOVE this little building – the architecture and the Economy Plumbing Supply Company sign. The font, the feel, the colors…It looks like it’s been here long before me and will be here no matter where I go. This building makes me happy every time I see it. It’s the little things! (Full disclosure, this building is on Capitol, NOT Delaware, in case you go looking for it.)
In other news…we finally got to see a print version of The Washington Post with our story in it. We were on the front page!
Still so surreal and one of the coolest things to happen to us EVER. I am one lucky girl and now the whole country knows it!
Finally, what I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for since you saw the title of this post: my favorite salad in Indy. A bold claim, I know, but I stand by it. My favorite salad in Indy is…
…the Mediterranean Grilled Chicken salad from Three Sisters Cafe in Broad Ripple! Nathan took me on a date Friday before I left town for a weeklong work trip, and this hit the spot. There are more toppings than lettuce, hence, the perfect salad ratio 😉
It’s topped with feta AND parmesan cheese, perfectly seasoned and juicy grilled chicken, pesto-tossed grains, and tomatoes. Also, it barely fits in the bowl, so…big salad FTW.
We ❤ date night and we ❤ Three Sisters.
Do you have a favorite building in your city? What makes a good salad in your opinion?
