Today is a VERY important day. It’s my mom’s birthday!!! My mom and I have always been super close, and I don’t know what I’d do without our girls’ days in Indy or our lunch dates over the last year. She deserves to be celebrated every day, and we were lucky enough to get to celebrate with her over the weekend for an early birthday dinner at Harry & Izzy’s!

Aren’t they the cutest?!

Mom chose the restaurant based off the dessert menu (swoon…you see why we get along so well). But this was the first time any of us had dinner there too, so it was fun to get to see what all the hype was about! As I mentioned before, Harry & Izzy’s is the sister restaurant of the famous St. Elmo’s steakhouse, so we knew we were in for a treat.

We knew we had to start with the famous shrimp cocktail.

Holy moly. I totally underestimated the spice in their signature cocktail sauce! One shrimp was plenty for me. I think my sinuses are cleared forever. But it was worth it for the experience 🙂

The complimentary bread was delicious! A nice, buttery palate cleanser after the spicy shrimp.

Next, Mom and I shared the romaine hearts salad.

apples, Gorgonzola, candied walnuts, champagne-rosemary vinaigrette

This salad was so good. I loved the mix of flavors – the sharp gorgonzola cheese, sweet apples and candied walnuts, topped with a refreshing, light vinaigrette. One of my favorite combos!

We each got a different entree. I chose the filet mignon with green beans on the side. One of Nathan’s fries came on my plate…they’re onto me. I promise I did not steal it (although I was not shy about stealing many others throughout the meal).

In the background, you can see Mom’s pork chop with redskin mashed potatoes which she was generous enough to share. SO good!

Nathan had the ribeye with french fries, which he also shared 🙂

My dad chose the Izzy Style New York Strip, which I missed taking a photo of. Maybe because I was too distracted by the brussels sprouts with bacon we all got to share…

Needless to say, it was all absolutely delicious. My filet was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had, and I didn’t leave a single bite behind. Perfectly juicy and flavorful, and it went so well with all our side dishes!

Fortunately, even after all that good food, we still had room for the highly anticipated dessert…

Signature brownie, of course 🙂 This was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal, and a great way to celebrate with my mom for her birthday! Thanks as always for the fun double date, Mom and Dad ❤

Mom, I hope this week is full of fun and celebration, and I hope this year is everything you want and more! Happy birthday!
